I am BURSTING with joy because the Tea for Debbie Lee event on Saturday raised over $3000 (yes, that is three thousand dollars). What an enormous blessing this has been. Not only successful, but fun. The really classy bit, other than the rich desserts, well dressed ladies of all ages, amazing talk by Deb Lee on the Sacrament of the Moment, and tasty shrimp from Dorazio Catering, was the service! Talk about men seeking to please ladies! DK, DM, kiddos O & S, and my lovely hubby demonstrated the finest charm. Oooh la la!
Let's take a moment for this Sacrament of the Moment stuff. Where do we seek God in the moment? This moment? How do we acknowledge that God is in the here and now? As I type, am I breathing in God's presence? How is this or changing a diaper or writing a thank you card or doing my taxes an offering to God? These are great questions and I will continue to ponder. The idea that "God giveth and God taketh away" is bigger (smaller?) than the passing of a loved one or losing a $20 out of your wallet or rolling the family car, it is in the misspelled word, the forgotten appointment, the oops of everyday.
I had a funny, stupid moment today (really - just one, haha). My wonderful, fabulous, amazingly generous friend LP has a super cute, marvelous little girl named G who is 6 mo older than li'l Ren. Well G, being more mature (aka mobile) likes to mow over Ren and love on her with great intensity (and occasional innocent force). I found myself getting irritated that some kid was beatin' up on my kid! They measure their lives in terms of months and I was getting worked up. What a great opportunity to find sacrament in the moment. Give it to God. What blessing is being overlooked? Two beautiful, smart, healthy girls. Joy in friendship. Safe homes. So many things to be thankful for. I need to seek God in the moment.
