Catching Up

It has been one month since I have posted and I apologize for getting sucked into the universe. I think of lots of stuff to tell you...but fail to get to the computer (I am usually in the shower when the great notions strike). Much has happened.

Obama won the election. One black Senator said in response, "I am surprised at the white community." I, too, am surprised at the white community. Granted, Idaho - with our 2% black population - is a poor indicator of national attitudes. I feared that our nation would be too prejudice to come this far. Even though I disagree with some Democratic platforms, I can't pretend that McCain could do better. Palin for president? Yikes! Even as a serious pro-lifer, I would fear a rookie in the pilot seat. I guess now we just move forward.

Ren. Ah, Ren. So much is cruising in her synapse filled brain! She is signing away - more, all done, milk, eat, bath, water, open, cow, horse, kitty, dog, shoes, please, thank you and many more. What is even more amazing is that she understands and obeys general instructions (with TLC and lots of repetition.) "Please put the orange in the cup." and she does it. "Go get some shoes and we'll go outside," and she fetches shoes - usually a pair that actually go together! She is so smart. She loves to figure things out, pour things from one container to another (especially water in the bathtub). She understands context - water you drink is also the water you wash with and is in the river. Ren also has some real words: Hi, Bye-bye, hot, shoes, momeeee. She knows where her favorite snacks are. Luckily they are out of reach. She loves to play in the dishwasher and even put the silverware in the right drawer. She wants to run, step on everything, balance, jump, dance, and sing. She gets frustrated and puddles on the floor - not yet a tantrum, but an opportunity to redirect and understand what it is she is really after (and if she can't have it - what can she have instead). She is getting tall - baby fat is quickly going away. Yet, still nursing up a storm. She loves noodles and black beans, yogurt covered raisins and apples, green beans and oranges, grapes and real turkey.

I am teaching three yoga classes now (see side bar) and signed on with St. Luke's RMC to sub for their prenatal and mommy/baby yoga classes. I was surprised at all the cool benefits that come with being even just a flex employee. Wow! So, we'll see how it all goes.

Advent starts this Sunday. Light a purple candle and prepare the way of the Lord!
