"Hope is not a granted wish or a favor performed; no, it is far greater than that. It is a zany, unpredictable dependence on God who loves to surprise us out of our socks and be there in the flesh to see our reaction." Max Lucado
"May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love." Eph 3:17
"When I speak of the contemplative life I do not mean the institutional cloistered life, the organized life of prayer. I am talking about a special dimension of inner discipline and experience, a certain integrity and fullness of personal development, which are not compatible with a purely external alienated, busy-busy existence. this does not mean that they are incompatible with action, with creative work, with dedicated love. On the contrary, these all go together." Thomas Merton
There are wonderful moments of silence in which other speak to us and God speaks through them, to us. Take a moment of silence today and listen to the sacred sounds around you. Be still and know He is God.
You may be surprised that I am reading the Book of Hours (Thomas Merton). I am surprised, too. It was a wonderful gift that arrived a day ago and has captured my senses. Franciscan in simplicity and nature, yet like DeMello in figurative language, he really is an amazing read (usually after the second time reading) and will open one's spirituality to a different level. Thank you for this great gift.
Cold is getting better. Sun is out. Leaves are gorgeous reds and golds. Babe is napping. Beautiful.
